Key highlights from the latest Cocoa Compass, based on 2022 data, include:

 Over 30,168 farmers in Ofi’s cocoa supply chain are now earning a living income, moving closer to the 2030 target of 150,000 farmers.

• A 395% increase in the number of children receiving education support since 2018.
• A 15% rise in households covered by Ofi’s Child Labor Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS).
• Distribution of 6 million trees for agroforestry and income diversification from 2018 to 2022.
• 79% of farms in Ofi’s sustainability programs have been polygon mapped.

 Jeff Cohen, USAID Indonesia Mission Director, stated: "We are proud to work with Ofi and Hershey to promote sustainable agriculture practices among cocoa farmers, which will improve their resilience to climate shocks and livelihoods.”

 Technology is crucial to these advancements. Ofi’s sustainability management system, AtSource, offers detailed data and insights on the sourcing and impact of its cocoa and other ingredients. This system also supports compliance with the upcoming European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and includes:

 A Carbon Stock Monitoring and Measurement tool, developed with NGIS, which uses AI to provide data on forest cover and tree loss, aiding customers in monitoring deforestation and assessing the impact of agroforestry.

• An award-winning Carbon Scenario Planner that helps customers understand the effects of agricultural practices on GHG emissions and model methods to reduce them.
• An updated Cocoa Farmer Income Tool that offers detailed income estimates for cocoa farmers in Ofi’s sustainability programs, helping identify areas where further support is needed.

Ofi plans to announce a refreshed Cocoa Compass ambition in late 2024. This update will integrate insights from the past five years, leverage on-the-ground program impacts, and reinforce Ofi’s broader sustainability strategy.
