SIG Showcases Sustainable Packaging Solutions at 50th Dairy Industry Conference

March 2024

SIG, a renowned provider of packaging solutions, highlighted its innovative and sustainable packaging offerings at the 50th Dairy Industry Conference, hosted by the Indian Dairy Association (IDA) in Hyderabad, Telangana. Over the course of the three-day event, SIG exhibited a range of pioneering packaging solutions and cutting-edge filling technologies.

At the conference, SIG introduced its flagship small-size carton packaging solutions, namely the SIG XSlimBloc and SIG SmileSmall. The SIG XSlim 24 filling machine, capable of filling 24,000 SIG XSlimBloc carton packs per hour, offers the flexibility to accommodate nine different volume sizes, ranging from 80ml to 200ml, on the same filling line.

Similarly, the SIG SmileSmall 24 filling machine enables the filling of 24,000 carton packs per hour, with the ability to switch between four volumes (180ml to 250ml), reducing costs, time, and waste rates. The SIG SmileSmall variant offers options for straws or closures and allows for the filling of beverages containing particulates.

SIG emphasized the quick and easy volume changeover on its filling machines, requiring less than 15 minutes for maximum flexibility.

Additionally, SIG highlighted carton packaging in family sizes, particularly focusing on the SIG SlimlineBloc and SIG MidiBloc, available in volume sizes ranging from 500ml to 1,000ml.

In line with its commitment to sustainability, SIG showcased its bag-in-box and spouted pouch solutions, which are integral parts of its portfolio presented at the Dairy Industry Conference.

Abdelghany Eladib, president and general manager IMEA at SIG, expressed the company's dedication to serving customers and consumers with safe, sustainable, and affordable packaging solutions. He emphasized the significance of events like the Dairy Industry Conference in gaining market insights to enhance offerings.

Vandana Tandan, head of Markets for India and Bangladesh at SIG, underscored the substantial growth opportunities in the Indian dairy sector and the company's efforts to expand its market presence.

Dhandutt Shah, managing director India for SIG’s bag-in-box and spouted pouch business, reiterated SIG's commitment to delivering high-quality packaging solutions and acknowledged the rising demand for bag-in-box and spouted pouches globally.

The Dairy Industry Conference, themed "Indian Dairying: Innovation & Entrepreneurship," provided a platform for addressing contemporary issues in dairy entrepreneurship and showcasing industry innovations. With India being the largest producer of milk globally, the conference aimed to explore opportunities for innovation and growth in the sector.

SIG's participation marked its second appearance at the conference, reflecting its growing presence in the Indian market since its establishment in 2018. The company's investment in a new carton plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, further demonstrates its commitment to the region, with plans to expand production capacity in the coming years.
