Saco Foods has now announced its acquisition of Solo Foods LLC from Sokol and Co., a renowned Chicago-based custom food ingredients manufacturer. The specific terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
Established in 1925, Solo Foods specializes in crafting specialty baking ingredients, including cake and pastry fruit fillings, marzipan, and almond paste.
Tom Walzer, CEO of Saco Foods, expressed enthusiasm about integrating Solo Foods into their product portfolio, describing it as a valued addition to their lineup of unique offerings. He highlighted the strategic fit of Solo's products within Saco's pantry, envisioning synergies that would leverage Saco's robust shared services platform and explore new avenues for distribution, both online and in traditional retail channels.
Moreover, Shannon Pimmel, formerly associated with Sokol as a national sales manager, will be joining Saco to spearhead the growth of Solo Foods under its new ownership. Pimmel conveyed optimism about Solo's transition, emphasizing the significance of the brand's legacy and expressing confidence in Saco's commitment to preserving its heritage while unlocking new growth opportunities.
In Pimmel's words, "Solo's journey enters an exciting new chapter with Saco Foods. With over a century of baking expertise and tradition, Saco's investment ensures that Solo will continue to serve families while expanding its reach to new generations of bakers. This collaboration not only honors Solo's storied past but also propels it towards a vibrant future."
