Dr. Kroukamp's background encompasses a wide range of applications, including sustainable food production such as animal-free dairy and oils, as well as aroma compound production, fermentation, yeast breeding, synthetic yeast genomics, biofuels, and bioinformatics. His extensive experience spans both academic and industry environments.
Before joining MicroBioGen, Dr. Kroukamp served as the team lead for yeast metabolic engineering at All G Foods, a leading Australian precision fermented dairy company. Additionally, he held the position of technology lead for synthetic biology at Nourish Ingredients, a company focused on developing animal-free fats.
In his new capacity, Dr. Kroukamp will collaborate closely with MicroBioGen's Head of Research and co-founder, Dr. Philip Bell, to provide strategic leadership and guidance to team leaders across various sectors, including biofuels, baking, animal feeds, human nutrition, and biochemicals. Furthermore, he will play a hands-on role in the research and development of new yeast strains, leveraging his expertise in evolutionary genetics, cell biology, and microbial physiology.
